PRE & POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

1 DAY BEFORE treatment:

  • Print and fill out this intake form and bring it with you to your appointment. If you are unable to print the form, please come to your appointment 15 minutes early.

3 DAYS BEFORE treatment:

  • AVOID topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or other “anti-aging” products. Also AVOID waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.

7 DAYS BEFORE treatment:

  • AVOID blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve. Also avoid herbal supplements, such as Garlic, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Omega-3 capsules.

  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before (or after) your treatment to avoid bruising.

  • Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores to receive advice on antiviral therapy prior to treatment.

Do not use BOTOX® if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders. Please inform your provider if you have any questions about this prior to the treatment.

DAY OF TREATMENT

  • Arrive to the office with a “clean face”. Please do not wear makeup.

  • You may experience a mild amount of tenderness or a stinging sensation following injection.  Redness and swelling are normal. Some bruising may also be visible. You may experience some tenderness at the treatment site(s) that can last for a few hours or a few days. You may have bruises in the areas treated.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT:

  • Stay in a vertical position for four hours following injection. AVOID laying flat on your back, and laying face down.

  • Makeup can be worn four hours after treatment, please use clean application tools or clean hands to apply.

  • AVOID placing excessive pressure on the treated area(s) for 24 hours; when cleansing your face or applying makeup, be very gentle.

  • AVOID exercise or strenuous activities for 24 hours; you may resume other normal activities/routines immediately.

  • You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort.

  • AVOID extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided.

  • Be sure to apply an SPF 30 or higher sunscreen.

  • Wait a minimum of 48 hours (Ideally 14 days) before receiving any invasive skin care or laser treatments.



DERMAL FILLER

PRE & POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

 

Before Fillers Treatment:

Print and fill out this intake form and bring it with you to your appointment. If you are unable to print the form, please come to your appointment 15 minutes early. If you are also getting Botox with the fillers, please also print this consent form.

  • Avoid aspirin (any product containing acetylsalicylic acid), vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, and other dietary supplements including: ginko, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew, and ginseng for 2 weeks. Also avoid any kind of vaccine or flu shot 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after filler.

  • Avoid ibuprofen (advil, motrin), Aleve (naprosyn), and alcohol for 48 hours prior.

  • If possible come to your appointment with a make-up free face.

After Fillers Treatment:

  • Skin redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness, and/or itch are common. If the symptoms persist longer than 3 days, please contact our office.

  • Do not massage treated areas (unless instructed by provider).

  • Avoid applying heat to the treated area until bruising or any swelling have resolved. Avoid activities that cause facial flushing on the day of treatment including consuming alcohol, hot tub or sauna use, exercising, hot wax, and tanning. Avoid extreme cold like skiing or hiking outdoors.

  • Gently apply a cool compress or wrapped ice pack to the treated areas for 15 minutes every few hours as needed to reduce discomfort, swelling, or bruising up to a few days after treatment. When bruising occurs it typically resolves within in 7-10 days.

  • After treatment, oral and/or topical Arnica Montana may help reduce bruising and swelling. You can find Arnica in the natural foods section of your grocery store or local pharmacy.

  • You may also take acetaminophen (Tylenol) to reduce pain. Avoid consuming alcohol, taking aspirin, ibuprofen or anti-inflammatory medications within the next 4 hours as they may increase bruising.

  • Routine washing and showering is fine with gentle cleanser and moisturizers.  Sunscreen and makeup may be applied.

Please contact us if you experience:

  • Fever/chills; area appears extremely red, hot to touch, and angry looking.

  • EXTREME pain at site; purple blotches at areas not injected; or obvious blanching (whitening or bluish tinge) of the area injected.

If you have these symptoms outside of normal business hours, go to the ER immediately.



PRP-PLATELET RICH PLASMA PRE & POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Pre-Treatment Instructions:

1. You may take Arnica 3-5 pellets, 3 times a day starting 2 days before, the day of treatment and 2 days post, this will help to decrease the risk of bruising

 2. Make sure that you hydrate well the day before and the day of your treatment, as well as eat prior to presenting to the clinic

3. No Accutane use in the past 6 months

4. Avoid the following for at least 1 week prior to your procedure a. Ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, Naprosyn, Aspirin b. Alcohol c. Cigarettes d. Systemic Steroids (anti-inflammatory) Prednisone, Dexamethasone e. Nutritional supplements – gingko, garlic, vitamin E, flax oil, curcumin and any other anti-inflammatory supplements (These drugs and herbs may cause excessive bleeding or bruising)

 5. Please notify us if you are taking any blood thinners such as Coumadin, Plavix or Heparin, or any others.

6. Avoid retinol (vitamin A) and glycolic acids at least 2 days before.

 Post-Treatment Instructions and What to Expect:

A. Mild inflammation, redness and swelling, itching and/or soreness for a few days (2-5) – these are common to any injection procedure.

B. Bruising may last a several weeks. Continue to take Arnica pellets 3-5, 3 times a day until bruising clears

C. Small bumps at sights of injection are normal after treatment and will dissipate over 3-4 hours after treatment

D. It is normal to feel firmness in the injection site for a few days post treatment. This will soften over time. To maximize your results; for a minimum of 5 hours post your PRP treatment do NOT wash your skin AVOID touching, pressing rubbing or any form of manipulation to the treated area for at least 8 hours after treatment

AVOID Advil, Aleve, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin and Naprosyn 2 weeks post treatment

AVOID Nutritional supplements – do not take gingko, garlic, vitamin E, flax oil, curcumin and any other anti-inflammatory supplements 2 weeks after your treatment

AVOID alcohol, caffeine and smoking for 3 days after treatment.

AVOID high heat (sauna, steam room, very hot showers for 24 hours post treatment

AVOID the sun and use a physical SPF daily AVOID facials, facial massage or laser treatments for 2 weeks afterwards. Most facial treatments can be done immediately prior to the PRP treatment but not for 2 weeks after. Continue increased water intake for the first week after your treatment, Most patients will see results within 2-4 weeks, continued results will be seen up to 12 weeks. We recommend a series of 3 or 4 treatments administered at 2-4-week intervals. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
